Rie Classroom-3

JAPANESE PAPERMAKING DEMONSTRATION
Tues, Sept 23, 4-6pm
Papermaking Studio, PNW114

Rie first learned papermaking from Timothy Barrett, a MacArthur fellow, at the University of Iowa 20 years ago. Since then, her papermaking has been informed by various papermakers especially from Japan. In this demonstration, students will see how paper fiber is extracted from plants, turned into pulp, then into sheets of paper in traditional Japanese method. A few students will be invited to get their hands wet during the demonstration.
