Wellesley College Senior Leadership and the Advisory Committee on Library and Technology Policy have approved a policy requiring all students to adopt two-factor authentication to help combat increasing cyber threats, such as phishing. Two-factor authentication involves providing both your login password and additional proof that it is actually you logging in. This is typically accomplished by entering a code sent to a device in your physical possession or an acknowledgement through a mobile application that you are trying to login. We use a system called Duo for this purpose.
Though we will require all students to begin using Duo by October 1st, 2019, all current students are strongly encouraged to self-enroll during the voluntary period starting today via this website: https://webapps-vpn.wellesley.edu/duo_enrollment (requires VPN from off-campus).
Duo two-factor authentication will be required for Google Apps and Workday accounts after October 1, 2019 for all students. LTS will be reminding everyone about this deadline across campus through emails, digital signage, and social media as we approach October. However, the sooner you sign up, the better it is for you in terms of added security.
