Course reserves for Fall 2021
With the fall semester and classes being held in-person, LTS will provide physical items for course reserves. During the period of all remote instruction necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, academic libraries were able to adopt emergency procedures to provide scans of entire in-copyright books when digital alternatives could not be found. With the return to in-person instruction, the pre-pandemic fair use provisions of the US copyright law are again fully in effect.
To meet the need for access to print and electronic library materials, LTS staff will:
- acquire materials in preferred formats, including licensed ebooks, to support classroom instruction according to the Collection Development Policy. You can:
- send requests via email to acquisitions@wellesley.edu
- contact the subject specialist for your department
- complete the Suggest a Purchase form
- assist patrons in locating existing digital surrogates of materials via the Internet Archive, HathiTrust, etc.
- assist in the identification of appropriate OER (Open Educational Resource) materials
- manage print reserves collections of library materials according to pre-pandemic policies
- Faculty members or departments can donate or temporarily lend print materials for circulation via the Course Support shelf.
- manage video e-reserves according to existing procedures
- provide access to ILL for physical books, chapters, and articles according to pre-pandemic policies
If you have questions about whether the materials you provide to students comply with copyright laws, please contact Graham Henderson, the College Copyright Officer, at shenders@wellesley.edu
Wellesley Library to Go service continues
The libraries will continue their “to go” service in Fall 2021. Faculty, students, and staff can arrange for easy pickup of books and other materials from the Clapp, Music, and Art libraries. Materials can be requested using this form, and library staff will retrieve the items for you. You will receive an email when the items are checked out and ready for you to pick up. Ask at the front desk of the appropriate library, and staff will give you all materials that are ready for you (and might also include ILL requests or holds).
Wellesley Guest and Eduroam wireless networks
While the campus was closed to the public, guest wireless network access was disabled campus wide. The Wellesley Guest wireless network and Eduroam wireless network are now available again. Guests will be prompted to accept the Acceptable Use Policy and COVID-19 policies in place at the College.
