A message from the CIO:
We have reorganized our department to make it easier and simpler to engage with us and our services. The work we do is not changing, but we hope the organization will be clearer and more approachable. You are encouraged to contact any staff member — we will get you to the appropriate resource, information, or person who can help you.
The overarching department remains the same, but we will be changing from Information Services to Library & Technology Services. In polling, the majority of responses contained Library & Technology in the name, which also corresponds with our web presence to internal and external users. We will have a revised org chart available soon, but in the meantime, we wanted to tell you about the new groups in our department.
Research and Instructional Support – Heather Woods, Director
This group is responsible for providing instructional and research support for the faculty and students by providing guidance on the use of the library and technology resources. The members of this group support the learning management system, academic software, research support, classroom technology design and digital media production.
Computing and Media Support – Megan Adams Brooks, Director
This group is responsible for the Help Desk and supports the computing and media needs of faculty, students and staff. The members of this group support hardware, operating systems, software installation and the technology training program. They also support both computer and audiovisual hardware in all classrooms. All technology and media support for non-curricular events is also managed by this group through the special events media support program.
Emerging Technologies – Kenny Freundlich, Director
This newly established group is responsible for the investigation of new and emerging technologies and their relevance to teaching, learning and research as well as administrative efficiency. The members of this group will also be engaged in the evaluation and usability testing of technologies prior to College-wide rollout.
Library Collections – Eileen Hardy, Director
This group is responsible for building, maintaining and preserving library collections in all formats and locations, including special collections and the archives. The members of this group acquire, license, catalog and organize resources; they interpret specialized research collections through teaching and research support. They manage the integrated library system (ILS) as well as other library systems, direct the Book Arts Program and administer the records management program of the College.
Enterprise Solutions – Terry Ballantyne, Director
This group is responsible for the development, implementation and integration of software solutions to support the College’s administrative operations. The members of this group support all major software applications (such as Banner, Luminis Portal and Web Content Management System) and databases used by the College and develop applications for use by all members of the College.
Systems and Networks Support – Sandy Roberts, Director
This group is responsible for supporting all the central systems, data and voice networks. The members of this group are responsible for designing and implementing all central hardware, software, wired and wireless networks, telephony, internet connectivity, and data storage. In addition, they provide guidance to the members of the College on data and network security.
Communication, Administration & Planning – Veronica Brandstrader, Director
This group is responsible for managing administrative tasks such as project management, policy development and oversight, purchasing, and building management. The members of this group also direct budget planning and management and support all major LTS communication to the College.
