Beginning today, 2/6, all Gmail messages will go directly to Google, instead of being routed on-campus first (which was temporarily necessary as part of the migration). This has several advantages, including the fact that an on-campus server problem would not affect access to Gmail, and we will no longer see limits on the number of email messages sent in one day. If you receive any “bounced” emails sent to Google Groups, please call the Help Desk right away and they can help you resolve the issue.
On February 29, FirstClass will no longer receive email. This primarily affects remaining FirstClass conferences that are set to receive email from off-campus, and the owners of such conferences have been notified that they need to move to Google Groups by the end of this month, if they want to continue this function.
Google+ (Google’s social networking tool similar to Facebook) is now available, and you can join it if you wish, by going to More, Even more (at the top next to Groups) in your Google account, and scrolling down to the Social section. Note that Google+ is a separate system outside Wellesley’s Google Apps for Education, and has a different usage policy governing privacy, support, and so on. Use at your own discretion!
