A new student fines and fees policy has been approved by the Advisory Committee on Library and Technology Policy and put into place by LTS with the goal of having materials returned on a timely basis, so others in the community can use them.

Instead of charging overdue fines, when an item is not returned by its due date, the replacement fee for the item will be placed on a student’s record. This replacement fee will trigger a “borrowing block.” When the item is returned, the fee (and block) will be removed. When an item cannot be returned, the patron will be charged to replace the item.

We hope this policy results in materials being returned more quickly, without imposing punitive charges. LTS will continue to work with students on renewals to meet resource needs (in addition to self-renewal through MyWellesley).
